Here’s a look at what’s changed on manapool.com between June 25-July 2.

📌 Highlights

  • Watch Out For
    • some people will start seeing personalized card recommendations on the home page over the next couple of weeks.
    • we’ve started internally testing unique card listings with pictures and descriptions. You may start seeing those next week too.
  • In the Aether - picture and description listings are just the tip of the iceberg. We want to enable more kinds of listings, both on-catalog and off-catalog, while keeping everything Magic-focused for now.
  • Performance and Reliability - after seeing some degradation at peak times when the database was under load, we bumped the database size and started engineering work to scale past where we are now.

Stuff You Might Notice

🚚 For Sellers

Seller Inventory Tools

  • Inventory CSV imports are more forgiving now. A bad row no longer kills the whole import, and the error export is easier to understand when you need to fix specific lines.
  • Sellers can now import inventory from CSVs that include a UTF-8 BOM, which fixes a common failure mode with files exported from other tools or re-saved in Excel.
  • Add Item search got a round of fixes and polish.
  • ManaBox imports now have better reporting, making it clearer what happened during a bulk upload.

Order Management and Fulfillment

  • Sellers can no longer send replacement orders completely on their own through the old “I’ll send replacements” path, after too many issues with that workflow.

Pricing Anomaly Tools

  • The minimum-market-price floor is now applied consistently anywhere sellers see pricing anomalies, including preview and edit flows, which should cut down on noisy low-value flags.
  • When a seller dismisses a price anomaly, Mana Pool now saves a snapshot of the listing, inventory, and market context so we can review those decisions later.

🧙‍♀️ For Buyers

Buyer Orders and Post-Purchase Visibility

  • The orders list now has filters to hide shipped and received orders.

Bug Fixes

  • 🐛 Fixed some card rollup pages whose original printing was wrongly showing from The List.
  • 🐛 Fixed card pages turning search failures into misleading 404s.
  • 🐛 Fixed an issue where email links to signed-in pages dropped people on the wrong page.
  • 🐛 The cart is more resilient to unusual saved data in browser storage, so a malformed old cart entry is less likely to break the page.

⚡ Performance & Reliability

  • A lot of work went into reducing database load from heavy background inventory jobs, including tighter concurrency caps and better coordination between expensive refreshes and syncs.
  • Pricing and inventory-related views were slimmed down to reduce database load.
  • We’re also working on making the API more resilient under heavy load.

🕵️ Behind the Scenes

These changes affect internal systems or beta test features that won’t be apparent to you, but we include this info for the curious.

Seller Health and Operations

  • Similar to the seller health dashboard sellers use, we now have an internal view for comparing health stats across all sellers.
  • We’re moving toward a more proactive process where we can reach out to sellers who need help earlier, with the goal of reducing buyer reports, seller inventory issues, and late shipments.

Admin Verification Tools

  • Admins can now add photos when they verify cards.

🚧 In Development

Gather & Verify (Beta Testers)

  • Orders pages now show more of the real gathered-order lifecycle, making it easier to tell what stage a consolidated order is in without opening each one.

Recommendations Rollout Controls

  • Mana Pool now has percentage rollout controls for the home recommendations carousel, giving us a smoother way to ramp that feature instead of flipping it on for everyone at once.
  • The home recommendations carousel now reshuffles on each load instead of serving the exact same top cards every time.
  • Recommendation impressions, clicks, and add-to-cart actions now have analytics behind them so we can learn what’s actually useful.

Unique Singles Expansion

  • We’re rolling out the ability to list unique singles with pictures and descriptions.
  • That will lead to more work to list things beyond singles and sealed products too.
