My Lost Hobbit Precon - "Furrierocity"
deck Beorn the Fierce
Aug 24, 2026
This is meant to be a stand in for what I imagine would be an appropriate pre-con Commander deck for The Hobbit set. I followed TCC's idea of being ~$150 in singles value, while also trying to squeeze in needed reprints, classic staples, a cohesive strategy involving bear tribal and card draw; as well as highlight great cards from the set that felt appropriate while leaving other complementary cards as chase cards in boosters. All cards featured either relate to bears or furry creatures as Beorn is a "furrier" in the book. I added Toski as a fun bonus since he's the "Bearer" of Secrets, and serves as a strong foundational alternative. Although the few Mirkwood elves are not furry, or bears, I found them appropriate as Beorn serves as the ally the company of dwarves relies on to enter Mirkwood Forest. This also goes for Garruk as in my eyes, he was heavily inspired by Beorn and offers a way to act as an Oathbreaker should someone wish to convert the deck into that format. I also avoided adding any UB cards not within WotC's net(D&D) or LotR as I don't believe they would add licensed characters from outside their control(sorry Bosco!) Lastly I tried to recreate the wave of creatures Beorn brought to The Battle of Five Armies by creating a focus on buffing all as a stampede. I hope you enjoy looking at this deck and potentially trying it yourself! -Conner
(At time of building this deck was exactly $150!)
