Rube Goldberg's Salt Burn

deck

Ultima, Origin of Oblivion

Oct 23, 2026

Salty cards designed to slow burn opponents during upkeep based on the amount of cards in hand. Win-cons are based on charges. Ultima is used to speed up colorless mana from the 10 ramps and lands, so the low mana cost cards get out quickly. The focus is to get opponents to draw/discard decks while taking damage based on hand size at upkeep. Charges counters are to ramp up win-cons or boost creature tokens. Salty Protections, like Crawlspace and Ensnaring Bridge, help reduce creature attacks but put a target on your back. Salty mana controls, like Winter Orb and Winter Moon, WILL slow down ALL players mana, this is where 10 ramps and Ultima comes into play. You keep putting up mana, while squeezing the opponents. If you can get Golem Foundry out early, every spell cast in your deck generates a charge. 1 Golem every three charges. See "On Counters" section below. Vedalken Orrery & Shimmer Myr allows casting artifacts from your hand (Mystic Forge from the top deck) at any point making them instant spells. Which is good if you have your artifact mana ramps out on the field. Unwinding clock allows you to reset ramps during opponent's turns, allowing you to flash more artifacts onto the board. Also resets Myr Turbine to generate myr. Eternity Vessel and Golem's Heart keep you in the grind with life giving options. It can also lead to Aetherflux Reservoir becoming useful. There is the Blast, Grind, Salvage, Summon machine combo, and the Myr Turbine can help churn the wheels. On Counters: Using Coretapper, Contagion Clasp and Energy Chamber makes speeds up Strixhaven Stadium. Using same items kills decks with Smokestack. Using same items on/with Darksteel Reactor wins the game. Deck improvements: Swapping out an artifact for a Myr Retriever can help improve salt flavor.
