Burrahobbit Meal [TCC Hobbit Precon Entry]

deck

Animate Food Tokens | Sacrifice Blockers ||| Zipper: Warning: May contain spiders ||| Pamphlet: Take advantage of Tom, Bert, and William’s unique ability to endure after death with a simple artifact animation loop. Use them to block a big creature, then when they come back as an artifact, turn them back into an artifact creature and repeat the loop. Piggybacking on that, and to keep with the story beat, we’ve included Food token generation. Animate your Food tokens so that they can be used for life gain or let Tom, Bert, and William eat it for card draw. Don’t let a tasty Hobbit go to waste! Speaking of sacrificing creatures, did you know that you can sacrifice your chump blockers after the declare blockers step? While they won’t do damage to the attacking creature, the attacker is still considered blocked, and you still get a nice payout! Look for other ways to sacrifice your creatures at instant speed, like before targeted removal, or even a board wipe. Just remember that you can’t sacrifice a creature that has already been paid as a sacrifice to activate another ability. Wolf (Warg) is the dominant type in this deck, so don’t be shy about taking a bite! And don't forget to pump the power level of your creatures because the "Ferocious" keyword is activated when a creature of power 4 or more is under your control. These are great for sacrificing for card draw in a pinch. Finally, are you tired of playing the same commander? Try Gloomweaver, the Great Spider Who Enmeshes <Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest> as a secondary commander. ||| A note to TCC judges: I was inspired to build this deck when I pulled Tom, Bert, and William as my promo card in pre-release and used it to win a game. I also remember sitting in the Las Vegas convention hall with my friends when they announced it as the first Hobbit card to be featured, so I have a soft spot for those lovable trolls. The deck price is a little higher than I would like, but I think of some of it is inflation due to the Hobbit cards being unreleased and some of it is just my wish fulfillment for WotC to reprint some stuff. I think the power level of this deck is squarely bracket 2, with ramp being on the weaker side given how many higher mana cost cards there are. But I hope that having a ton of card draw makes up for it in the middle and latter parts of the game. I hope you enjoy looking at my flavorful card choices as much as I enjoyed putting it together!
