Smaug the Impenetrable sleeps atop more than gold, he sleeps atop the last of Durin's Folk, who never abandoned Erebor even after the dragon claimed it. This precon plays out that uneasy alliance: every blow that lands on Smaug becomes Treasure, and every Treasure fuels the Dwarves who still call the mountain home. Balin loots the ruins, Dáin Ironfoot rallies the survivors, Gimli and Óin swing axes forged from what's left of the hoard all while the dragon himself turns punishment into pure profit and burns the table down with what he's collected. Where most attempts at Smaug lean purely into Treasure burn, this build keeps one foot in the halls of Erebor. A Dwarven war chest with a very possessive landlord.
